Publication Ethics

JIM is a scientific publication that contains research findings that have never been published before. This statement of scientific code of ethics outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the journal's publication process, including managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. This statement of publication ethics is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics guidelines for ethical publication. The core of these ethics emphasizes upholding three ethical values in publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief

  1. Define the journal's name, scope, frequency, and accreditation if necessary.
  2. Determine the membership of the editorial board.
  3. Define the relationships between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other parties.
  4. Respect confidentiality for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Enforce norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyrights.
  6. Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Establish codes of conduct for editors and reviewers.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding for the journal's sustainability.
  10. Build networks for collaboration and marketing.
  11. Improve the journal's quality.
  12. Prepare permissions and other legal aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor

  1. Provide comments on the authors' manuscripts to help readers understand the intended message, either through annotations on the manuscript or discussion facilities on the journal's website.
  2. Ensure that comments align with standard language rules, such as the Indonesian EYD system or the journal's language standards.
  3. Continuously strive to improve the quality of publications.
  4. Promote freedom of expression objectively.
  5. Issue corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies as needed.
  6. Ensure that authors' manuscripts do not contain offensive content related to ethnicity, religion, race, or inter-group relations and coordinate potentially controversial writings with the publisher's editor-in-chief.
  7. Accept, review, and act on complaints from all parties involved in the journal's publication process.
  8. Support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
  9. Avoid personal opinions, authorship bias, or third-party influences that could lead to biased decisions.
  10. Encourage authors to improve their manuscripts to meet publication standards.
  11. Perform layout adjustments on manuscripts to align with the journal's template.
  12. Assist the editor-in-chief in finalizing the collection of manuscripts before printing and publishing, particularly in terms of language, format, and layout.

Duties and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

  1. Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the scientific value and contribution of the manuscript to knowledge development.
  2. Assess whether the manuscript is clear, complete, relevant, and fits within the journal's scope.
  3. Avoid personal criticisms or comments.
  4. Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript by not discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing its contents to others.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Ensure that the submitted manuscript is the authors' original work.
  2. Confirm that the manuscript is not under review by another publisher or submitted simultaneously to multiple publishers.
  3. Take responsibility for all aspects of the journal's business process until the manuscript is published.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Website Administrator

The Website Administrator is responsible for managing the journal's website. Specifically, their tasks include:

  1. Setting up the journal's website.
  2. Configuring system options and managing user accounts.
  3. Registering editors, reviewers, and authors.
  4. Managing journal features.
  5. Monitoring statistical reports.
