ABSTRACT
Rice is Indonesia's primary staple crop, making production stability essential for maintaining national food security. During the period of 2021–2024, rice production on Java Island decreased by 6.16%, while the population increased by 2.71%. This study aims to develop a Long Short-Term Memory model to forecast rice production for the next four months across six provinces on Java Island through a web-based system. The model utilizes historical data on rice production, harvested area, and climate variables from January 2018 to December 2025. The research includes data preprocessing, evaluation of 216 hyperparameter combinations, model training using the Adam optimizer, and performance evaluation using mean absolute error, root mean squared error, and mean absolute percentage error. The results indicate that each province requires a different optimal hyperparameter configuration. Based on the mean absolute percentage error, the model achieved very good accuracy in East Java, good accuracy in Central Java, West Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, fair accuracy in Banten, and poor accuracy in Jakarta.
