Allegation of Misconduct

ELKOLIND upholds the value of honesty in its Code of Ethics: publications must be free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P). The journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when handling allegations.

What is covered

  • Fabrication or falsification of data, results, or images
  • Plagiarism (see the Plagiarism Policy)
  • Duplicate or simultaneous submission and redundant publication
  • Authorship disputes and undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Manipulation of the peer-review process
  • Research carried out without the required ethical approval

How allegations are handled

  1. Allegations may be sent in writing to the Editor-in-Chief through the Contact page, with as much evidence as possible. The identity of the person reporting is kept confidential where possible.
  2. The Editor-in-Chief makes an initial assessment of whether the allegation is credible and within the journal's remit.
  3. The author(s) concerned are informed and given the opportunity to respond. The editors may consult the editorial board, reviewers, or the authors' institution.
  4. If misconduct is confirmed, the action may include a correction, an expression of concern, retraction of the article (see Corrections & Retractions), rejection of future submissions, and notification of the authors' institution.
