Plagiarism Policy

The Editorial Team of ELKOLIND recognizes that plagiarism is unacceptable. It has therefore established the following policy, which specifies the actions (sanctions) to be taken when plagiarism is identified in an article submitted for publication in the journal.

Definition

Plagiarism is the intentional or unintentional act of obtaining, or attempting to obtain, credit or value for a scientific work by quoting part or all of another party's work and/or scientific work and presenting it as one's own, without stating the source properly and adequately.

Articles must therefore be original, must not have been previously published, and must not be awaiting publication elsewhere. Material taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly identified so that it is distinguishable from the original text.

If plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the article again and will approve action according to the level of plagiarism detected, using the following guidelines.

Levels of Plagiarism

  1. Copying a few short sentences from another article without citing the source.
Action: The author is given a warning and asked to revise the text and cite correctly.
  2. Copying most of another article without proper citation and without naming the source.
Action: The submitted article is rejected for publication in ELKOLIND, and the author may be sanctioned by being barred from publishing in the journal.

All authors are responsible for the content they submit, because they all sign the ELKOLIND Publication Ethics Statement Form, which is provided when the manuscript is declared accepted. If an article is classified as plagiarism, all authors will be subject to the same action.

If an author is proven to have submitted a manuscript to ELKOLIND while also sending it to another journal, and this overlap is found during the review process or after publication, action will be taken according to point 2 above.

If plagiarism is found that falls outside the rules above, the editors of ELKOLIND have the right to impose sanctions according to the editorial team's policy.
