Authorship & Contributorship

JARTEL follows the authorship principles recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), adapted to engineering research.

Authorship Criteria

A person listed as an author must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data, system design, or implementation.
  2. Drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Approved the final version to be published.
  4. Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to respond to questions about its accuracy and integrity.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author handles communication with the journal during submission, review, and publication, ensures that all co-authors have approved the manuscript and the author order, and confirms that all listed authors meet the criteria above.

Contributors Who Are Not Authors

Individuals who provided technical support, laboratory access, writing assistance, or general supervision, and funding bodies, should be named in the Acknowledgements section rather than as authors.

Author Contribution Statement

For manuscripts with more than one author, JARTEL encourages a short contribution statement using the CRediT taxonomy, for example: Conceptualization; Methodology; Software; Hardware design; Validation; Formal analysis; Investigation; Data curation; Writing – original draft; Writing – review & editing; Supervision; Funding acquisition.

Changes to Authorship

Any addition, removal, or reordering of authors after submission must be requested by the corresponding author before acceptance, with a written explanation and the signed agreement of all authors. Changes after publication are handled through a correction notice.

Unacceptable Practices

Guest, gift, and ghost authorship are not permitted. Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors; authors who use such tools for language editing or coding assistance must disclose this in the Method or Acknowledgements section and remain fully responsible for the content.
