Plagiarism Policy

The Jurnal JARTEL Editorial Team acknowledges that plagiarism is an unacceptable form of academic misconduct. Accordingly, the journal has established the following policy, which outlines specific actions and sanctions to be taken if plagiarism is identified in a manuscript submitted for publication in Jurnal JARTEL.

Prior to submission, authors are strongly encouraged to independently verify the originality of their manuscripts using reliable plagiarism detection tools. Upon acceptance, Jurnal JARTEL will conduct a formal plagiarism check before the article is published. The journal has established a maximum similarity index threshold of 20%, ensuring that the content is substantially original and that any quoted material is appropriately cited.

Definition

Plagiarism is defined as an intentional or unintentional act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit for a scientific work by quoting part or all of another party’s work and presenting it as one’s own without accurately and adequately acknowledging the original source.

General Principles

  • All submitted articles must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Any material taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly identified through appropriate quotation and citation to distinguish it from the author’s original text.
  • Proper acknowledgment of all sources is mandatory to maintain academic integrity.

Plagiarism Assessment and Actions

If plagiarism is suspected, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the manuscript and determining the appropriate course of action based on the severity of the misconduct. The following guidelines apply:

1. Minor Plagiarism

Description:

  • The manuscript contains a few short sentences copied from other sources without proper citation.

Action:

  • The author will receive a formal warning and will be required to revise the manuscript by correcting the citations and appropriately paraphrasing or quoting the affected text.

2. Major Plagiarism

Description:

  • A substantial portion of the manuscript is copied from other works without proper citation or acknowledgment.

Action:

  • The manuscript will be rejected for publication in Jurnal JARTEL.
  • The author(s) may be sanctioned, including a prohibition from submitting future manuscripts to the journal for a specified period, as determined by the editorial board.

Author Responsibility

  • All authors listed on a manuscript are collectively responsible for its content. If a manuscript is determined to contain plagiarism, all authors will be subject to the same sanctions.
  • Authors must ensure that their submission complies with ethical standards and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

Simultaneous Submission

If it is proven that an author has submitted the same manuscript to Jurnal JARTEL while it is simultaneously under consideration by another journal, and this is discovered during the review process or after publication, the following actions will be taken:

  • The manuscript will be rejected or retracted, depending on its publication status.
  • Sanctions will be applied in accordance with the provisions outlined for major plagiarism.

Additional Sanctions

In cases of plagiarism that fall outside the categories described above, the Editorial Board of Jurnal JARTEL reserves the right to impose appropriate sanctions in accordance with the journal’s policies and ethical standards.
