Ethical Oversight

JARTEL expects all research to be conducted ethically and in accordance with applicable laws and institutional regulations.

Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants, such as user testing, surveys, biometric data (face, fingerprint, voice), or health and biomedical measurements, must:

  • Obtain informed consent from participants, or from parents or guardians for minors.
  • Protect participants' privacy by anonymising data and removing identifying information from images unless written consent for publication has been obtained.
  • Where required by the institution, obtain approval from a research ethics committee and state the approval number in the Method section.

Research Involving Animals

Studies involving animals must follow applicable animal-welfare regulations and minimise harm, and must state the relevant approval where required.

Data Privacy and Security

Research on networks, cybersecurity, or surveillance must not expose personal data or real vulnerabilities in third-party systems without authorisation. Security research should follow responsible-disclosure practices.

Safety and Dual Use

Authors must consider the safety of experimental setups (for example, high voltage, RF exposure, or autonomous robots) and avoid presenting details that would facilitate harmful misuse.

Editorial Responsibility

Editors may request evidence of ethical approval or consent at any stage and may reject manuscripts that do not meet these requirements.
